Don Mattrick leaves Microsoft to play Words With Friends

The news is quickly gaining momentum that Microsoft’s head of Interactive Entertainment Business, Don Mattrick will be leaving Microsoft for yellower pastures (it really doesn’t get more green than working for the company that makes the Xbox).

All signs point to old Donny taking over at Zynga, the home of Words With Friends and other cherished rip-offs.

Zynga is naturally the next step for Don, who is rumored to be glued to his smartphone, day and night. According to a rough draft of the contract, the move will also provide Mattrick with Gamers come crawling back to the Xbox brand“all the free DLC his heart desires” and “pizza for lunch on Fridays.”

Mattrick has had a rough couple of months, recently. Ever since the Xbox One reveal in May, Don has had to deal with online beatdowns from people angry at his vision of the future: video game hell. As we all know by now, Mattrick’s plans for Judgment Day were recently stamped out by Microsoft in an attempt to not send the Xbox One out to die. Mattrick’s departure will be felt by us all in the gaming industry.

But heads are now turning towards Microsoft. Who will replace Mattrick in their time of need? Who will be responsible for bribing the easily swayable gaming press with free consoles after a bad E3? Keep checking back for more news on Mattrick’s replacement.
