It’s not every day that videogames get the chance to be seen in a positive light in the wider media. It’s an even rarer occurrence for videogame music and in particular its notable and brilliant composers to be considered in the same light as their counterparts in film and the classical genre.
So it’s great to hear that the works of great composers such as Nobu Uematsu [Final Fantasy I-X] , Kōji Kondō [Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda] and Martin O’Donnell [Halo] once again being represented as part of the 2014 Classic FM hall of Fame: The World’s biggest poll of classical music tastes.
Any video game score or arrangement will be considered, the only stipulation is that the music must be orchestral. Many pieces are alreay in the voting database, including last year’s #3 – Final Fantasy Series, Nobuo Uematsu and #5 – Elder Scrolls Series, Jeremy Soule.
