Originally released on the Wii, then ported in HD to PC, Swords & Soldiers’ conceit was a strange one: a 2D, sidescrolling RTS. Even stranger still is that it worked brilliantly. Although relatively simple, the basic principles of most RTSs were still present: resource building, micro-management, and long term battle strategy; breathing life into a genre where progress and innovation comes in rare dribs and drabs. And it’s about a religious pilligrimage for divine barbeque sauce.
