4A and Deep Silver have announced that Metro 2033 and It’s sequel Last Light will be making the leap to PS4 and Xbox One this Summer in Metro Redux a new compilation that will include remastered versions of both Metro games.
Metro 2033 has been completely overhauled for this new addition and has been rebuilt from the ground up in the Last Light engine and will feature re-mastered visuals: advanced lighting, dynamic weather, more detailed characters with improved animation, more dynamic destruction and improved smoke, fire and particle effect
Several gameplay enhancements from Last Light have also been added to 2033 including improved enemy AI, combat and stealth mechanics, superior weapon handling and more responsive, intuitive controls plus s the atmospheric ‘mask wipe’ mechanic, weapon customisation, silent kills and take-downs
Metro: Last Light has also received a graphical face-lift as well as gameplay improvements including new melee animations, and fan requested ‘Check Watch’ and ‘Check Inventory’ features. As well as all previously released add-on content.
The Redux versions also introduce options to play the game’s in two different ‘Play Styles.’
Players who prefered the survival horror oriented gameplay of Metro 2033 can now play both campaigns in the ‘Survival’ Play Style, that limits resources, has deadlier enemy AI, and slower reload speeds. Those who enjoyed the more action oriented gameplay of Metro: Last Light can try the ‘Spartan’ Play Style, which provides Artyom with a powerful set of combat skills and more plentiful resources.
The challenging Ranger Mode in HUD is stripped away and hardcore rules apply will also return to both games.
Upon release, Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux will each be available separately as a digital download for Xbox One, PlayStation4 and PC $24.99 / €19.99 / £15.99.
Alongside the digital release, a boxed compilation containing both games, titled METRO REDUX will also be available at retail for a suggested $49.99 / €39.99 / £34.99.
