Earlier this year, news that the Bryan Singer directed sequel to 2011′s X-Men: First Class would take on the Days of Future Past story arc excited fans everywhere. Undoubtedly, many people still need sacrificial sustenance for the finale to the X-Men Trilogy that saw Brett Ratner turn the series into a boring and intolerable schlock fest. The terrible adaptations that followed, such as X-Men Origins: Wolverine and this summer’s The Wolverine, have only been salt on the previous wound. Thankfully, X-Men: First Class added a much needed jolt of great acting, writing, and competent action to a group of heroes many thought were dead and buried.
In 2014, X-Men: Days of Future Past will see Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) sent back in time to correct a series of historical errors that destroy mankind’s future. Thus, X-Men characters from the original live-action franchise, such as Rogue (True Blood’s Anna Paquin), Shadowcat (Ellen Page), Colossus (Daniel Cudmore), and the elder version of Professor X (Patrick Stewart), will cross paths and be united with the characters of X-Men: First Class. The mega-star that Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) has become will undoubtedly also attract both new and younger Hunger Games fans to the cinemas as well.
As a result of the above, a new viral marketing campaign has begun. Trask Industries, who have developed the Sentinels as, literally, big-baddies, now have their own website. If fans go to www.trask-industries.com, then they will be able to watch a commercial for the successful company, read over the history of the mutant gene that they are trying to cure, and to also view their inhibitor collars (they block mutants from using their abilities) and the Mark I version of the giant Sentinel robots, developed and manufactured to protect us lowly normal humans from those “evil” mutants plotting against us. Check out the Sentinel below from the website:
This marketing campaign is clearly a good step that will excite fans. The website also has propaganda from Trask Industries as well as screen-shots from the upcoming film. Go to www.trask-industies.com now to see what the future holds!
